Overview

You’re invited to join us for a truly magical, unspoiled, utterly relaxing wellness retreat and island experience of a lifetime.

Dirk Hartog Island Eco Lodge is a privately owned, untouched dream island destination, offering you the most unique eco yoga experience. Situated west of Monkey Mia and in a world heritage site, Dirk Hartog Island has been the home of the Wardle family for 53 years and has opened its doors and sublime tranquility to those in search of a sense of inner peace and an escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

Surrounded by the nurturing forces of abundant nature at your off-grid accommodation, your wellness experience unfolds.

Expand your mind and awaken your senses, meet like-minded people and embrace the true essence of this all-inclusive retreat. Connect with mind, body and Country.

Whether you’re looking for some deserved ‘me’ time or searching for the perfect group fitness retreat, we invite everyone to experience their health and wellness journey with us.

What to expect

Premium accomodation in a sea facing room with breakfast, lunch, dinner and healthy treats daily.

Due to the island's remoteness, it is home to some of the most endangered and beautiful wildlife in the world.

You will come away from this Retreat feeling refreshed and revitalised with:

1. A rested mind. Your mind gets a deep rest and in this state is able to process and integrate everything consumed by your senses. You will store required information in the deeper recesses of your mind and release (literally flush) any waste from metabolic processes, leaving your mind refreshed and clear. Solutions to problems become clear and your perspective is broadened with more expansive ideas.

2. A rested body. Utilising simple and accessible techniques your body will release into a deep rest. In this state of rest, energy returns from flowing outwards to the extremities, (to move us from one place to the next), to flowing back into the centre, nourishing our major organs. Deep rest strengthens our homeostatic function and brings the whole of our being into balance.

3. The ability to switch the mind on or off. This is an important self-directed skill to be able to settle the body, engage the nervous system and switch the mind on or off when required.

4. The ability to press the reset button anytime. You will learn how to implement moments of stillness into your existing daily routine to maintain your well mind.

5. Increased resilience and adaptability. Strengthening your homeostatic mechanism allows you to encompass a greater range of experiences whilst maintaining balance.

6. A sense of coherence and wholeness. In a deep state of rest, the different parts of your brain are harmonised, improving cognitive function and emotional stability. You will have an expanded perception and a more integrated experience of yourself, allowing you greater understanding of what is going on around you.

7. Enstasy. You will experience yourself without doing and striving. In a state of deep rest, your senses are quietened allowing you to experience yourself, (even just for a nanosecond!) as quiet and still. This gives you a different perspective of yourself – as a human being rather than a human doing.

Meet our wellness retreat lead, Lara Dwyer - Sukha Yoga

Lara has been a student of Yogic practices for 20 years and has been teaching for 12 years. She has been privileged to have studied (and continues to study with) an exceptional selection of teachers within Vedic and Eastern philosophy who have imparted invaluable teachings of Yoga & Meditation. From the inspiration and grace of her teachers & the forever humbling experience of motherhood to her two daughters, Lara weaves a practice to invite liveliness and joy, cultivate steadiness and deepen a personal spiritual connection. It is Lara’s intention to provide you with practices that are resonant and relevant during and beyond your stay at Dirk Hartog Island.

Frequently asked questions

Wellness Retreat attire is all about comfort and ease. The important thing is being able to strip down in the heat and keep warm if it gets a little cold in the evening, or at the end of class in Savasana/Meditation.

  • Yoga tops: We’d suggest two bra tops and two vests.
  • Yoga bottoms: Two pairs of tight yoga pants, one baggy fit pair and if you like wearing shorts, a couple of pairs of these.
  • A shawl or wrap: This allows you to stay cosy during Savasana/Meditation, and during late night chats under the stars.
  • Hair bands or hair ties: This is something we so often forget, but essential for keeping your hair out of your face when you’re doing yoga, swimming or snorkelling.
  • Comfortable shoes: Easy to wear, slip on shoes are perfect. Bring some trainers too, so you can truely embrace the outdoors.
  • Bathers, snorkels and fins: Definitely worth packing, to enjoy the incredible marine experience the Island has to offer.
  • Hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and water bottle: It will be warm and sunny during the day, so remember to keep hydrated!
  • Yoga mat and props: Yoga mats and bolsters will be provided, but if you’d prefer to bring your own or any props which make you feel comfortable, please feel free to pack them.
  • A good book and a journal: Journaling is a great way to record your thoughts and remind yourself of the incredible experience you had when you return home.
